James' exceptional ensemble skills and musicality has made him a two-time recipient of the Semper Fidelis award for musical excellence presented by the United States Marine Corps. James has also been broadcast on WOSU in conjunction with the lessons and carols service with First Congregational Church as well as being featured twice in the Madison Press.  A long time member of the Columbus State Community College music program, James served as principal horn and harp for 10 years from 2001-2011. During his tenure at CSCC James has performed Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols" with the CSCC Choir conducted by Gordon Franklin on numerous occasions at the Columbus Museum of Art.

​In addition to his performing endeavors James is passionate about education.  James maintains a very busy private teaching studio instructing students in Columbus, London, and Mansfield. Student accolades include 'Superior' ratings at OMEA events as well as placing first and second prize in school and district wide competitions in music composition.  James has given guest lectures at Ohio University on composing for the harp and served as a clinician for the 12th World Harp Congress in Sydney Australia where he presented his paper entitled, "Nicholas Flagello: A Set Theory Examination".  Equally at home in an academic setting, James is eager to share his love and knowledge of music with collegiate students.  James currently is on faculty at North Central State College where he teaches Music and First Year Experience courses.  

James has studied with such artists as Gillian Benet Sella from the Cincinnati Symphony formerly of the Israel Philharmonic and Patricia Masri-Fletcher of the Detroit Symphony. James holds a Bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University and a Master's degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts with a cognate in theory.  Areas of specialization include: theory, tone production, and note reading.

James Predovich

Pedagogue & Orchestral/chamber musician

James enjoys a varied career concertizing throughout the Midwest, teaching scores of fabulous children and most recently arranging compositions for his newest musical endeavor, JplaysH duo collaborating with Hornist  Jenna McBride-Harris.

His performing has taken him around the world while playing with such orchestras as the Phoenix Symphony Guild, as well as overseas completing a British Isles tour including stops in Dublin, London, and Wales.


James serves as Principal Harp with the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra in addition to being an Associate Musician for the Columbus Symphony.

James also serves as a regular substitute harpist for a variety of orchestras including: Lima Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, Springfield Symphony, Wooster Symphony, Jackson Symphony, Ypsilanti Symphony, and Kentucky Symphony.  

James currently serves as an adjudication judge in piano and harp for the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra's Young Artist Competition. 

Most recently James has collaborated with Dr. Lisa Jelle from Capital University performing the Mozart Concerto for flute and harp, twice, as well as sharing the stage with Dr. Nicole Charles in an "East meets West" recital at Muskingum University.
